3 months and I love you

Zoe has been "officially" our daughter for 3 months now! (the adoption was actually final on the 16th - they give you 24 hours to "think it over") Wow, the last month has really flown by. However - she definitely knows how to mark the occasion!

Last night as I was tucking her in - she grabbed my face on both sides to face her and said "I love you mom". Out of the blue, no prompting, no me first, etc - totally spontaneous. And yes, she totally has my heart.

Colder at Easter than Christmas!!

Easter was a bit unusual this year. It was so cold here in Atlanta (and most of the country) that the egg hunts usually held on Saturday were downright freezing. We were delighted that it did warm up on Sunday to actually feel like a spring day.

Zoe quickly understood the excitement and game of finding the eggs. Our neighborhood gets together on Sunday afternoon and have a great egg hunt. It was, as always, wonderful.

We were also reminded again of the fragility of life - and the hope we have in Christ. The husband of a precious friend (he was a friend too, but I have known her since she was about 6) passed away after a terrible battle with cancer. He was 34. His wife has been such a beacon of strength and peace. We are praying for their family, including their 7 yo twins and 5 yo daughter.

1st visit to the beach

We spent a few days in St. Augustine over Spring Break. The weather was beautiful! As always the boys had a blast - and we are all delighted to see that Zoe shares our passion for the ocean. She literally gasped and said "wow" - when she first saw it as we came over the bridge into Crescent Beach. Zoe and I went down with Chase and Anna (his girlfriend) a day before David and the boys - for one of Chase's best friend's wedding. Rem and Chase have been friends since 1st grade - it doesn't seem possible!

The waves were pretty strong the first two days - so all of the kids stayed close in - but by the last day they were much more manageable. Skylar really wanted to take Zoe out and show her how to jump the waves - so I really love the picture of them together. She danced and skipped and ran and laughed for hours - she is so full of joy.
